Arrival

When we arrived at the B&B it was like we were experiencing deja vu! The train to Amsterdam, the metro to North Amsterdam, the walk along the canal, the view of historic houses and a windmill – it was all so familiar! That’s because we had been there before. BB Noord and Park just so happens to be located across the street from the SWEETS bridge house we visited last March! You might be wondering why we would choose to visit two staycations located in the same area. Well, they actually offer quite different experiences. SWEETS is a tiny house with a panoramic view over the water where BB Noord and Park is its very own apartment, with more space and a private terrace overlooking a garden. Two special, but very unique staycations!

The B&B

The accommodation is not only very cozy, but also family-owned! Living just next door, they can be there to answer any questions or help if you need some local recommendations. But don’t worry there is plenty of privacy. The space for you has its own living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette. The bedroom overlooks the garden and has French doors to a small, yet lovely terrace. The living room comes with a lounge sofa and a dining room table. The bathroom, so pretty and pink, has a walk-in rain shower with a spacious sink and a toilet.

Sustainable Mission

Something this B&B stresses is the importance of contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable world. Because of this, they have opted to use local Amsterdam brands that share these ideals. Linen and towels are from Yumeko, care products are from Marie-Stella Maris, and their organic herbal tea comes from Wilder Land. Each of these companies have dedicated themselves in their own way to help make the planet a more environmentally friendly place.

But it doesn’t stop there. In the garden, the owners grow their own vegetables and herbs along with a number of fruit trees and shrubs. Depending on the season, they use veggies from their own garden for breakfast. During off-season, you can still enjoy homemade jam made from their fruits. Furthermore, since the summer of ‘21, you’ll find chickens roaming in their backyard which means the eggs you get for breakfast come from their very own (organic) flock. Now that’s what we call sustainable living!

The Area

This was our second time visiting Amsterdam-Noord and again we had a splendid time. This B&B is perhaps in the most idyllic area of ​​the city. Along the street are picturesque houses with a historic Dutch character. A beautiful lake with lots of greenery and an 18th-century mill completes the picture. Since the weather was nice, we decided to take a walk into its main center and enjoy some ice cream! The treat was delicious, but the most exciting part of our journey was walking along the canals and taking in the lush greenery. This neighborhood is truly breathtaking. The air was filled with children’s laughter and the sidewalks were a welcome place for couples walking their dogs. Such a great place for families to enjoy! We highly recommend it.
