Uitgerust Voor Zaken – The perfect stay for business and pleasure
Uitgerust Voor Zaken may literally translate to ‘equipped for business,’ but don’t be mistaken – it isn’t all work at this establishment! Yes, you are in the perfect peaceful setting to get focused and inspired, but this is also a great place to get that much-needed break and achieve rejuvenation.
Located in the heart of Friesland, in the old canal village, Heerenveen, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a lush garden that promotes serenity. Here, you’ll also be able to take in a beautiful view of the open waterway, perhaps even catch a breathtaking sunset. Inside, you’ll be met with a modern and simplistically decorated interior, each room exuding a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The farmhouse
Architect Bart Vos designed this Frisian farm and converted it into a B&B with six luxurious and spacious guest rooms. It’s easy to brush off the stressors of every day once you enter, thanks to the simple and modern decor! Their use of earth tones and natural materials are helpful as they aren’t distracting. You’ll easily be able to achieve any goal you set whilst staying here, whether it is business or leisure.
Arrival
Friesland is always quite the journey, but boy is it worth it. When we arrived, it was a straightforward walk to the B&B located just off the main road. We were completely in awe to discover how lush and green the environment is, with a gorgeous waterway as well! Once we put our things down in our cozy room, the first thing we did was take a seat at one of the lovely terraces situated in the garden. Everything was just so beautiful.
Rooms
The six spacious rooms have all of the facilities you need to either catch up on some work or get some quality R&R. All lodgings, have a lovely box-spring bed, a nice place to work, a panoramic view of either the countryside or the open waterway, a pantry with minibar and a luxurious bathroom. Plus, each has one of my personal favorite features – exposed wood! Something very special about our lodging, in particular, was that some of the windows didn’t actually look outside. It was as if the structure continued past our room. Our view was actually the interior of the roof.
Mission
One of the most unique things about this B&B is their mission! As their name implies, they certainly do cater to businesses, even offering to host meetings and work retreats. Their ambition is to promote an inspirational space that gives you the room to help you prepare work appointments, catch up on overdue work, innovate plans, or develop ideas. But, just as they create an environment ideal for work production, it also goes hand-in-hand with being great for putting your job aside and focusing on rest. Furthermore, if you are looking for an escape, to lounge, and catch your breath – you certainly don’t need to look any further.
Surroundings
Friesland city Heerenveen is actually the oldest peat canal village in the Netherlands! Rich with history and nature, you’ll find there is actually quite a lot to discover. Maybe take a walk at the park Van Engelenvaart right next door or explore the center of Heerenveen less than a five-minute drive away. Outdoor enthusiasts will be happy to find there are many places for cycling, golfing, fishing, and water sports! For our foodies, we recommend you get a reservation at one of the many amazing restaurants this small city has to offer!
The next morning
In the morning we were greeted with a delicious Frisian breakfast! Not only was it yummy, but it was so beautifully displayed. I almost didn’t want to touch it because I didn’t want to mess up the artistic design. Once I did dig in, I was impressed with the combination of fruit, cheeses, and freshly baked bread! Although this certainly was a business trip for us, we achieved more than just our work goals – we left feeling well-rested and refreshed!
