FINCH – A charming and funky boutique hotel in Deventer
Set within an iconic building dating back 151 years, FINCH is a boutique hotel with an old soul and charming taste. You’ll find this beautiful establishment at the prime entrance to the historic city center of Deventer. Here, you are treated like a long-time friend rather than a mere guest.
History
In 1871, the doors to this iconic building, then called Hotel De Keizer, opened. For many years it was known as a renowned landmark hotel that formed the connection between the train station and the old town centre. In 1918, however, the Rotterdamsche Bank NV bought it. It served as a bank until the 1970s, when it started a new chapter as an office building. The most recent remodelling was done by the current owners, who saw its potential and wanted to restore the building back to its glorious roots. Thus, FINCH was born!
The Hotel
The mission of this luxury boutique hotel is to provide a place that gives more than just a good night’s sleep – though rest assured, you will get that here! They promise to welcome you with open arms and pay close attention to your specific needs. For that, you can expect personalized service tailored to your wishes. Take their rooms for instance. There are a total of 24, with six options that come in all shapes and sizes! Though each suite does differ, all are equipped with a comfy bed, modern décor, and historical details, such as large windows and original beams.
Rooms
Finch offers 24 rooms that come in all shapes and sizes. We stayed in their small boutique room which was quite cozy and charming. You can even ask them for a room with a balcony! Their most luxurious room would have to be the split-level studio. It’s technically a high ceiling loft that offers the most space of the bunch.
Although they are quite different, each room is chic, fresh, and packed with luxury FINCH Essentials including a super comfy bed with big fluffy pillows, air conditioning, a smart T.V., high-speed WiFi, a Nespresso machine and tea set, and, our personal favorite, a record player with a selection of vinyl records.
The bar and lounge
FINCH’s funky bar and all-day lounge are also a head-turner! Its interior alone is eye-catching, with an eclectic mix of vintage photographs, retro household items, and pastel highlights. This is the perfect place to either pull out your laptop and enjoy a latte or wind down with a delicious cocktail or two. Furthermore, the menu is filled with healthy and hearty breakfast dishes, brunch plates, and yummy snacks. A great environment to chill out, work, and socialize!
Brunch All Day
Who doesn’t love a delicious brunch? If you are looking to indulge yourself a bit, we recommend you go full-out and B.A.D. (brunch all day). Open early morning to late night you can treat yourself to breakfast, brunch, snacks, and cocktails. Not to mention, they have an excellent brunch platter, flatbreads, and salads for our health nuts out there.
