Glamp Outdoor Camp – Festival Style Camping in Appeltern
It’s festival season people (!) and although things are slowly opening up, I bet you can’t wait any longer for some live music and dancing fun. Luckily, Glamp Outdoor Camp offers incredible glamping accommodations at multiple locations throughout the Netherlands – each exuding fun summer vibes.
Luxury meets outdoor fun at these pop-up campsites found in the coolest places throughout the Netherlands. Glamp Outdoor Camp has situated itself in lush forests, by revitalizing waters, and on the edge of beautiful nature reserves – so you can pick what atmosphere suits you best! The choice is all yours.
Arrival
Although public transportation is possible, it’s much easier to get to campsites and nature reserves by car, so that’s exactly what we did. There is parking right outside the campsite and signs everywhere to help guide you in the right direction. If you bring lots of luggage, don’t fret, they have wheel barrels to help you transfer your items to your accommodation hassle-free.
One of the most unique things about our experience was our greeting. Right at the entry gate were two uniquely dressed characters waiting to welcome us with song! It definitely set the tone for just what we were getting ourselves into – and boy did we love it!
Location
After extensive research, we decided that their pop-up site in Appeltern had just what we were looking for. The town of Appeltern is situated against the Brabant border in the Land van Maas en Waal. Surrounded by nature and De Gouden Ham. Many other locations offer a more chill vibe. Appeltern, on the other hand, goes completely festival style offering live entertainment, theater and music, hiking and cycling, water sports, and my personal favorite, HOT TUBS!
Accommodations
They offer a wide variety of accommodations, each depending on which campsite you visit. At Appeltern specifically, you’ll mostly find luxury tent options; including awaji tents, bell deluxe (where we slept), flores tent, and the big bell tent. Depending on the tent, you can find space from 2 to 6 people. Each have beds, power supply, fridge, and simple stove and kitchen inventory. If you are looking for more of a tiny house, cabin, or lodge situation, they have a lovely selection available at their other locations.
Live Music
When I found out there would be live music every weekend, I was over the moon! I couldn’t remember the last time I was able to see a performance in person. Inside the entertainment tent, two stages were set up so two different bands could trade sets back and forth. I thought that was quite refreshing. The audience could keep dancing while the musicians got a well-deserved break. The music switched back and forth between up-tempo pop hits and more old-school sing-along tunes. It was a lovely combination and definitely got the crowd up from their seats. If you are interested in checking out their program, you can find that here.
BBQ
The enormous smoking black BBQ is quite the eye-catcher of the campsite. Not to mention, from the moment we arrived, the heavenly smell made us completely change our dinner plans. We had initially decided to cook for ourselves, but couldn’t resist the temptation of a delicious BBQ burger. Plus, fun fact – the smokey crew of pyro-culinary adventurer Jord Althuizen offers a Glamp BBQ Roast Tour! Definitely worth checking out.
Outdoor Fun
So I’ve already mentioned live music, dancing, and a BBQ Roast Tour, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Glamp Outdoor Camp’s Appeltern chapter also offers a live dinner magic show, yoga and meditation workshops, outdoor cinema, silent disco, bicycle rentals, hot tubs, and a chill tree – where you can relax in hammocks!
Next morning
After a late-night hang with new friends, looking at the night sky, and debating the names of each constellation, we woke up and immediately needed coffee. Lucky for us there was a pop-up breakfast truck just magically waiting to serve us food! As we sipped on our caffeine and put together our breakfast sandwich back at our tent, we noticed the sound of upright bass and accordion in the background. Much to our pleasant surprise, a duo of vagabond musicians were wandering around and serenading the guests as they enjoyed breakfast. Talk about a great start to the day and the perfect end to a lovely glamping trip.
